We are in Italy!

After a long flight starting Mon. May 28 and ending on Tues. May 29 at 12:40 p.m., we landed in Rome, Italy and were greeted by 2 Elders who then drove us to the Rome temple construction site, then the Mission office to get some legal papers and then to the Mission home where we had a delicious lunch with Pres. and Sister Kelly. From there, the Assistants drove us to our apartment in Aversa or Gricignano (we’re not sure what town it really is but we will find out!) 2 hours south of Rome. We slept on the way since our biological time clock is a bit skewed for a few days. Our apartment is beautiful and spacious, bella cassa! We will have fun talking Italian to the landlords as they don’t know English, but a smile and  “Grazie mille (many thanks) and bella cassa (beautiful home)” says it all!

Today, the Elders took us to begin the process of “registering” in the country. By the time we did part 1, we were very hungry so went in search of food, but all the places close from noon until about 3:00 for their dinner. We ended up at “Little America,” the U.S. Naval Base about 10 min. from our apartment, for lunch. So instead of Italian food on our first day, we had Taco Bell! C’e male (not bad)!  Lauren, do you remember we ate there and that was your first “American” food in a year since being in Cameroon!?!? Hopefully, tomorrow we will have Italian food for lunch. Mi  piace (that would please me!)

We still can’t believe we are really here…it feels very comfortable and familiar.
